Above all, Hôtel Bareiss’s tradition of hospitality emphasizes thoughtfulness and attention to the needs of each customer.
The history of Bareiss all started with the mother, Hermine, who married a forester, Jacob Bareiss from Mitteltal, in 1935.
In 1947, she started up a small bistro, the « Gasthaus Kranz » and in 1951, she opened the Kurhotel Mitteltal, with 25 beds and a restaurant. In 1973, this hotel was taken over by Hermann Bareiss. Today it has become the Hotel Bareiss, part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux selection, earning numerous awards and offering today 99 rooms (apartments as well as suites).
Spaciousness and a rustic spirit
Located on one hectare of land at the foot of forests, the Hotel Bareiss is very much like an etching of relaxation sketched with delicate brush movements located in the very heart of a natural setting.
Rooms, apartments and suites, offer very pleasant and comfortable living accommodations, ideal for families (36 m² to 120 m²), in this child-friendly environment. Each accommodation offers a uniquely special and warm atmosphere, with typical furnishings and décor from the Black Forest.

And what can be said about the five restaurants, each with a different atmosphere, where customers will be most welcome? Whichever restaurant you choose, you will be able to indulge yourself in the multiple pleasures of gourmet dining, in this setting with authentic wooden objects from the Black Forest of the 19th century that let you know you are indeed in the land of Heidi !
At the Kamin Stube, another atmosphere, another world. This little room with saffron walls that can accommodate some fifteen tables gives off a Mediterranean spirit.
Without forgetting to mention the 3-star Bareiss restaurant, awarded by the Michelin Guide, in the master hands of Chef Claus-Peter Lumpp who reveals a top-category cuisine, served with great vintages.

The Sattelei refuge : a small wooden chalet that welcomes hikers at an altitude of 700 meters and provides a gourmet rest stop. Here you will find specialities that take the best of fresh, local and regional products. At finally, the Morlok farm, that belonged to a family of healers, which was bought in 2003 by Hermann Bareiss to perpetuate and conserve the cultural values and traditions of the region.
