Michelin 2012: latest edition of the restaurant and hotel bible

The new edition of the Michelin Guide is out since March 1st. Almost 9,000 French establishments are indexed in this 2012 edition, offering a broad selection of the best places to dine and stay.

The choice of continuity

It is known that the Michelin guide does not like changes and this year again, very few modifications are made in the holy guide. The 26 three stars restaurants only count one newcomer, chef Emmanuel Renaud’s Flocon de Sel in Megève. Great chefs like as Guy Savoy, Alain Ducasse and Paul Bocuse still remain part of the gastronomy elite. The two stars rated list now counts 83 restaurants and 10 newcomers, whereas 58 new names are added to the almost 500 one star restaurants. The guide also features a selection of 4,457 hotels and guesthouses covering all price and comfort categories. Again, the Michelin inspectors have leveraged their expertise, applying their rigorous selectioncriteria to point customers to the very best addresses. This year, 835 establishments have been rated “quiet” or “very quiet”, while 873 have been rated as “particularly pleasant”. Definitely once again one of the best guides to discover France.
