Fall/Winter 2009: All you need to know!

Every season, it’s the same ol’ rigamaro. Should we stash away our trench coat, burn our slims, cut our bangs and let out those shoulder pads? The good news is that a number of those kinds of items in our wardrobe are still welcome to make an appearance in the next season. It just takes a bit of following the 2009 winter trends to redesign a female’s figureby cleverly playing with shapes and volumes, lines and fabrics. Good luck for the new season!

Versace: The trench coat in its many states

The trench coat, an essential piece in Versace’s winter wardrobe, the trench coat plays with breaking down volumes and the mix of fabrics. Goal ? Highlight the intensity of the colour of fabric weft, embody them in a radiant fabric, just about alive, to better enhance body lines. We like the sparkling effect of the quasi-metallic fur. Bright indeed.

Max Mara: A coat or nothing!

Important! At Max Mara, a real research lab has been set in motion for this winter. The challenge ? Do a relooking job to the coat, at the core of the universe of this establishment, of course, without sacrificing any of its essence. Challenge met with flying colours with this compact but sophisticated collection. The winding and sculptural cuts draw a figure that is both architectural and ultra-feminine. The waist is put to its best advantage behind delicate folds, the length skilfully flirts with the knee whereas the flounces create a saving movement. A clearly inspired season.

Price: from 1 500 to 2 500 €

Rochas, is back!

Three years following the closing of this establishment to concentrate all efforts on perfume and cosmetic activities, Rochas has emerged out of its ashes with the arrival of the Messiah, Marco Zanini, in the position of artistic director. This winter, we gladly break Rochas’ DNA code : femininity that is at the same time simple and heightened, and the quintessence of the Parisian, all in a celebration of soft and sensual fabrics and delicate colours. In the department of leading wardrobe pieces, are the skirt-tank top set offering a beautiful alternative to the more ostentatiously masculine look of tweed suits and the fluid powder-grain dinner suits.

Price: Ivory silk tank tops with flounces 806 €
Ivory tweed skirt 1 016 €

Clarisse Hieraix, femme fatale fashion...

Asymmetric lengths, high wastes, trapeze skirts, lacings and corsets... At Clarisse Hieraix’s, it is no understatement to say that we exploit all of the mysteries of femininity to make a sensual figure and sensual it is indeed. Full spotlights on the Adeline skirt that forms the lines and reveals a shapely figure, very troubling indeed ! ai yai yai!...

Price: 345 €

Twilight Lutz

This undoubtedly was the unstructured collection of the Fashion Week. The ex Margiela, Lutz Huelle is making a great hit this winter with a collection focusing on "shadows and lights" directly inspired by Dario Argento. An entire program only staged around the shapes of clothes. Result : an interplay of twilight fabrics, transparency, an extravagant work with stripes, the blending of fabrics… Figures reveal a glam-rock spirit, a bit diaphanous. Exciting.

Price: Upon request

Christian Dior: The East in the spotlight again!

Under the reins of John Galliano, Dior has again turned to the East for inspiration, with stops in Mongolia, Asia and the Orient. All you need to refuel the brightness of One Thousand and One Nights, lantern skirts with round shapes, trapeze jackets. A decadent and sophisticated collection like this cashmere jacket over a wool skirt. A real success.

Price: The jacket: 4800 €
Skirt: 720 €

Léonard: Colours all the way!

Lots of prints combined with single-coloured jerseys, structured sizes, colourful drawings etc. At Léonard’s, colours and prints mock the crisis and break with the surrounding gloom. Multi-coloured tight fitted tweed dresses, revealing the sobriety of chocolate-coloured trousers. A summer aftertaste….

Price: Upon request

Tod's: Trench for the day...

What’s new in the Trench coat department ? The very classical Tod’s model by Derek Lam white neoprene fabric cleverly hemmed with black varnished leather details. Timeless elegance, if ever.

Price: 2 250 €
