Le Cinq: a rendez-vous between pleasure and passion

A large room in golden and grey tones decorated in a classical French-English style, like a cosy jewel case with draped curtains in grey damask and its bubbling blinds, its embossed velvet armchairs and its Régence mirrors where the Court of Marble is reflected: welcome to the Four Seasons George VLe Cinq restaurant.

A sure value that is constantly renewed

It was only natural to worry things might go downhill, after Chef Philippe Legendre left, as his reputation was intimately tied to that of the prestigious restaurant of Hôtel George V. You can not deny that the challenge for Legendre’s successor was risky, because it was no easy matter to come after this chef. And yet, Chef Eric Briffard, trained by Joël Robuchon and awarded Best worker of France who has now been at the head of the Le Cinq restaurant since June, 2008 has brilliantly succeeded. Less in the heart of the media, but just as brilliant, this "anti-star" chef was able to reinvent a classical cuisine, but shaded with modern notes, without ever denaturing taste by sauces that are too overbearing. Always concerned with renewing, this restaurant offers a different menu for each season, complete with different options to satisfy all tastes, with a menu «Suggestions from the Market» at 85 € for lunch and that varies each week depending on the products ...from the market, as suggested by its name.
I would especially recommend the tender shoulder of “Aveyron” lamb, with spices, fresh harissa, vegetable boulgour with fresh garlic, the meat melts in your mouth, Eric Briffard’s specialityand theCinq’s star dish.

Pleasure and passion

Pleasure, is first of all, the service: in the image of the hotel, the staff is attentive to little details and communicate a real passion. Then there is the passion of the Director of the Cinq, Eric Beaumard. This Vice-Champion of the World 1998 Sommelier Contest, has a love of wine that speaks loudly. How do you choose the best vintage to accompany a dish? That becomes really interesting when you are listening to his wealth of advice! This talented sommelier, fine connoisseur of wines from all over the world, has constituted a cave with more than 50,000 bottles! A restaurant you never grow tired of returning to, for a pleasure that is always renewed.
