Hertrich Adnet Studio: contagious cheer!

Nowadays, authenticity is considered to be a prerequisite for wellness, but the form it takes in the hands of certain architects is a bit dubious... And there’s a good reason for that. There are those who are satisfied with merely coming up with grossly superficial and exaggerated caricatures of the folklore of a certain area. Others have adopted a staging approach to avoid misrepresenting the soul of a place. For the past 20 years, there’s one duo that falls somewhere in between imaginative jubilation, poetry and authenticity and that has definitely been breathing in fresh air: Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet.
Because it was him and because it was me

Marc and Nicolas, this is first of all the story of an encounter, a rich and intense collaboration between the outstanding architect from Richemond and one fashion buff, ex Lanvin, Nicolas Adnet. Harmony and/or complementarity? In 1997, i.e. 10 years after the creation of his agency, Marc Hertrich joined forces with this self-made man in terms of interior design. He was particularly impressed by Nicolas’ passion for colours and powerful expression. Very quickly, this rather unlikely duo made headway in this artistic business. Breaking away with parody, and, departing from all of those, who in the name of authenticity, are content to tack on their vision - often Western-style - to more quickly forget about the soul of a place, Marc and Nicolas prefer talking about staging. While instilling life, poetry and imagination into the business of the expression of space, they make a complete break with those cold and conventional atmospheres that vainly breathe in refinement. More importantly, they try to reflect the true nature of a place and its past. And their formula has paid off!

A blend of influences

From the Plantation d'Albion on the Mauricius Island (Club Med flagship)  to the contemporary hacienda of Ixtapa Pacific, from the Eastwest Hôtel of the Pourcel brothers in Geneva to the Déssirier restaurant of Michel Rostang : if one were to make one single comment about Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet, without a doubt, one would mention their sincere intention to show respect for a place, all while focusing on mixing influences. Because, to comfort a consumer in his search for authenticity, and therefore for confidence, it is important to cleverly rely on local know-how, to learn how to mix the craftsmanship that caught one’s eyes with avant-garde materials without resulting in a place losing its identity and its environment. Result: each country visited is also a source of inspiration, the cultural heritage generally radiates compositions without getting swallowed up by folklore and last but not least, colour is back on the agenda. Tired of the eternal variations revolving around chocolate or grey, our two experts are at last reintegrating red, pink and yellow with little touches here and there…. And it’s life that is subtly taking the upper hand... Roset and Nobilis did not go wrong by calling on these two designers to lighten up their range of furniture and lighting fixtures. A real success story.
