You said vintage, didn’t you?

Vintage
, you said vintage, didn’t you? This term which came out in the 1990s, has cleverly become a buzzword over the last two decades. A real fashion phenomenon, for a long time, this term exclusively meant connoisseurs and originally was reserved strictly for vintage wine. Nowadays, it is effectively used in all different areas.

Not just a passing fad!

No single sector has escaped this anti-ephemeral trend. Fashion, furniture, design, automobile, “vintage” has indeed cropped up everywhere.
Therefore, in fashion, current collections are greatly inspired by this deeply engrained past. You don’t have to look any further than designer fashion shows that are reworking leading models to be convinced of that. (Christian Lacroix, YSL…)
The vintage rage has even reached the watch-making sector. A case in point is IWC, which has recently harnessed the benefits from this trend and on the occasion of its 140th anniversary reissued the six watches that have marked its history including the aviator watch, the Da Vinci, the Portuguese… The same goes for household appliance brands, the Hi-Fi or the telephony sectors which all display products with a spirit of the 50s, transforming them into truly decorative objects.

To be a vintage fan means distinction
To be a vintage fan means therefore distinguishing oneself from others and affirming one’s personal style, all while reminiscing over a prosperous era.
Vintage used to be reserved for the elite, today it has become more accessible for other wallet’s too, and is even a must these days. Unfortunately, sometimes this trend gets away from its original spirit. So be on your guard against « fake vintages », copies or re-editions of cheap quality. One must never forget that vintage means high quality and a unique haute couture product.
So, you said vintage, didn’t you?
