Louis Vuitton: Prefall 2013

Either after Jeanne Moreau in Truffaut’s film « La mariée était en noir (The Bride wore black)», or Romy Schneider, and even Caillebote, Louis Vuitton inspiration sources are never-ending… As a result: a glamour, gracious and timeless Prefall collection, where velvet, lace, feathers and strass get the best, as in the XIXth century delicate wardrobes. The Marc Jacobs’ touch adds a cool attitude, a playful and subtle luxury.
Oversize coats

Still in the precious spirit of the XIXth century, the coats keep their 2013 military and tight fitting cuts, but the rounded and voluminous shoulders turn the proportions over, making the line a real surprise. More classical: the large neo-aristocratic woollen cape gives the rather strict and masculine lines of the collection a feminine and glamorous touch.

Lace

Lace is more! Either patterned, or in a jacquard or tweed trompe-l’œil, lace is everywhere, from the satin dresses to the wrap coats, or the cigarette-shaped trousers! Marc Jacobs mixes it with nearly all his casual clothes.

Mini

Skirts, shorts, even accessories are minimalist in this Vuitton Prefall collection. Discretion is the motto, and glamour the must. Hence the ice skater’s skirt, the boy’s shirt, the micro-sequined tank top, shorts, velvet sandals with a small tassel, flat heel shoes and veils stitched to headbands, all in a gracious Victorian style. That’s Louis Vuitton: bringing the past and the present together in harmony
