At the end of the earth....

Saint Marie is situated on the north-east coast of Madagascar, and used to be a former haven for pirates and vagabonds! Its treasures of white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and sightings of humpback whales migrating here from the Antarctic, can now be enjoyed by pleasure seekers. This idyllic island remains preserved from mass tourism, providing the perfect conditions to be lulled into the local rhythm of life.
The Princess Bora Lodge and Spa has opted for an ecological mode of tourism. The real luxury of this hotel lies in the authenticity of the surroundings. The hotel is nestled amongst the palm trees and the abundant vegetation with the magical lagoon and the white sanded beach opposite. Noble materials are used for the villas. Luxury and ecology go harmoniously hand in hand.

Close to Mother Nature

The villas seem to grow from the very vegetation that surrounds them, in total keeping with Mother Nature. They range from Comfort to Luxury (with a mezzanine for children) to Executive Beach (with their own private beach) and bungalows with sea or garden views. All the accommodation is comfortable and peaceful.
The Creole, French and Malaysian influenced cuisine and the 300 square meter Jungle Spa are even more reasons for the visitor to find perfect happiness at the Princess Bora Lodge and Spa. In keeping with the eco-friendly influence, the spa is conceived like a vast hut, with an impluvium well that collects the rain water that is then used for the beauty treatments... The sound of lapping water as it runs over the stones, the delicious effects of the honey body scrub or the citrus fruit bath all transport the visitor into a state of pure well-being.
The main reason for staying at this peaceful place however may not be because of the comfort of the accommodation or the quality of the cuisine. But rather for the possibility of getting a glimpse of the humpback whales that come to these waters for the mating season between June and October. Watching these incredible marine mammals and listening acutely for the complex mating song of the male, could be reason alone for a trip to this exotic island ‘at the end of the world’.
