Delage: 20 years of extreme luxury and a corner on Madison Avenue

What do Catherine Deneuve, Jane Birkin and Lauren Bacall have in common?  Aside from the fact that they are women of great elegance and femininity, they are also Delage enthusiasts.

A luxury brand “à la française”

These shoes are reserved for true connoisseurs: a perfect cut, the finest of leathers, the most subtle of colours, it’s obviously Delage.  This luxury brand is celebrating its 20th birthday this year and is opening its first corner overseas, in the Yuta Powell salon in New York City.  A chic boutique uniting luxury and designer brands on Madison Avenue, on the corner of 76th street.  With this grand opening, the Delage savoir-faire will be transported beyond our natural borders and met by a sophisticated clientele, appreciative of the “French touch”.

True style is timeless

The craft industry of luxury “à la française” can count Delage as one of its flagships.  This brand, the result of a meeting between Primrose Bordier, high priestess of colours, and Barbara Wirth, renowned interior decorator, was set up in 2001 under the archways of the Palais-Royal.  Arriving from all over the world, timeless style followers come to pick out unique and customised designs with sophisticated colours and original leatherwear: crocodile, iguana, shagreen…

Crocodile, ostrich or shagreen?

Shagreen is well known in the world of cabinet-making, however, it is also Delage’s forte.  A precious leatherwear that requires twice the work of any “standard” material.  Only the back of the ray, the middle part, is selected.  Delage is the only designer that uses shagreen.  In addition to crocodile and iguana, other materials such as ostrich, python and shark skin are also worth mentioning.  Delage also means an exceptional quality follow-up, with the possibility of getting your already worn shoes renovated by the craftsmen who originally fashioned them.  And of course, for those elegant and style-conscious women, Delage also offers a variety of accessories such as gloves and handbags, all with a common denominator: a spirit of ultimate luxury and French style.
