A chic shopping bag for a social cause that gives off a shock effect.

Not only was this past 5 June 2009, the World Environment Day, but it was also the date of the simultaneous release, in all countries of the feature-length film "Home" produced by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. A film that triggered the desired effect: a generalized growing awareness of our responsibility for the planet. An event that is also present as a fashion accessory.

An educational and socially committed shopping bag

Hussein Chalayan is dedicated to this cause: aware of the overwhelming social and environmental challenges that are threatening the future of mankind, he created a shopping bag in a cotton printed animal canvass . Joining him is the PPR group that is committed to "leading the way, by informing, raising awareness so that everyone can mobilise and act". The PPR group backed the film "Home", in the framework of a financial partnership supporting the production of the film. However, its support is going to go even further, with the general mobilisation of all group trademarks and especially that of Hussein Chalayan. All of the profits from the sales of these shopping bags will be donated to GoodPlanet, Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s association, which is working to safeguard the environment.

A simple and obvious message, to serve a good cause

The idea behind the launch of shopping bags was simply to provide a message of warning about global warming and its effects on the animal kingdom. They came up with an animal print in the form of an animal patchwork, represented by threatened species that was dotted with silhouettes left in white to represent species extinct today. Hussein Chalayan has always been concerned about the environment. It is only natural therefore that he participated in this project and created this shopping bag : "something simple with a clear message that is immediately clear to everyone", he said. Mission accomplished.
