Vuitton and the artists : an anthology of a shared passion for contemporary creation.

The story of Louis Vuitton, which symbolizes the French way of life, is unfolded throughout the 400 pages of this luxurious publication, designed by Takashi Murakami. Ever since its establishment in 1854, this brand has always been in line with the times, never shy about associating with the greatest engineers, decorators, painters, illustrators and fashion creators… At the same time, Louis Vuitton developed a bold policy in favour of contemporary creations introduced as early as 1980 with César, Sol Le Witt and Olivier Debré.

A revived tradition

With the arrival of Marc Jacobs in 1997, the leading artists : Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, who worked directly on the famous monogram, were requested to renew this tradition.
Louis Vuitton called on the best international architects to rearrange its areas, therefore offering new perspectives. Peter Marino, Jun Aoki, KumikoInui freely instilled their spirit into the stores. As for the advertising campaigns, they put under the limelight the talent of photographers : Jean Larivière,Annie Leibovitz, Inez Van Lamweerde and Vonoodh Matadin.
A dialogue continuously renewed between luxury and contemporary creation, illustrated by 80 artists, narrated and analysed by three authors : Taro Igarashi, Jill Gasparina and Olivier Saillard.
