The Prince Maurice: welcome to a Mauritian paradise

There is the mildness of the air, the many different shades of blues that set the sky off from the sea, the efficient and always smiling service...and the decor. On the eastern side, in a vast park of sixty hectares bordering the Indian Ocean, the Prince Maurice started up the quiet revolution that should guide the Mauritian hotel business along the lines of Asian charm and refinement. Here, no rooms, but mainly suites that are distributed throughout the lush vegetation of a 60-hectare park surrounding a well sheltered lagoon.

Dark teakwood bridges stretch across lakes where magical fountains spurt out. Opening onto the pool and the lagoon, the restaurant is floating under soft dimmed lighting. Dale Keller and Martin Branner, two of the best architect-decorators, let their imaginations run wild in order to create the most elegant environment for this little gem of a hotel.
Supreme luxury, the twelve senior suites (125 m2...) have a private swimming pool, and some of them, junior suites on stilts, seem to float in the calm lagoon waters.

Highly personalized service

In the rooms, furniture with a colonial inspiration, marble and woodwork in the bathrooms, everything here displays elegance and comfort. Plus, attention to details : at the restaurant (excellent), each table has a table cloth with a different spice pattern.
Especially nice is the spaciousness and the calm, the extreme refinement displayed in the choice of materials (exotic wood, volcanic stone and marble), the desire to offer guests a personalized service. The traditional reception has been replaced by deep sofas where the new arrivals are invited to have a fruit cocktail while their luggage is being taken care of and formalities are kept to a strict minimum.

Dinners on the beach

To maintain top quality, the Prince Maurice is continuously innovating. The two bars have thus been redecorated and refurnished, doing away with the intimate, soft atmosphere. The warm shade of orange, the symbol of the Prince Maurice of Nassau, is reinforced by the omnipresence of leather so pleasant to touch. A number of deep pillows, sparkling and richly coloured recall the past of the spice islands and revive their fragrance.
Often highly acclaimed for its dining and the never-ending search for the roots of local Mauritian products, the Prince Maurice added a diamond to its crown with a restaurant on the beach. Guests can now enjoy a lunch of fresh seafood in the sun, rocked by trade winds. In the evening, the beach restaurant that is in complicity with the wind, proposes special evening programs.
The Prince Maurice is also a dream place for golfers who have access, within just five minutes, to one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf course on the island, the Legend and the Links.
