Orlane: towards the immortality of cells?

A longevity protein to fight the battle against ageing skin? This is what Orlane are betting on. A fascinating but also disturbing discovery ... Here is a detailed explanation on one of the latest applications in the world of cosmetics.

Long life to our cells!

In 2004, the small world of research was hit by an earthquake: a longevity protein was discovered, and with it, the hope of eternal youth. At the origin of this discovery was a principle that has been known for many years: calorific restrictionprolongs life expectancy. There is of course nothing revolutionary with that but the discovery is elsewhere: the gene activated by a prolonged diet has been identified! Its name is SIR-2 and is capable of stimulating a protein called sirtuin. The result of that is a notable slowing down of ageing. Nothing more was needed to start a craze in cosmetic research whose continuity depends on our knowledge on the senescence of cells. It was Orlane who got down concentrating the benefits of this fundamental discovery into a skincare, looking into the soya bean cuticle to find a way to stimulate sirtuin production. A concentration of hope in a small jar.

A new approach of anti-ageing?

Stimulating the longevity protein by producing the effects of a calorific restriction without having to go through a diet, is admittedly very appealing. But reality is unfortunately far more complex... According to the latest scientific publications, the cells regeneration by a simple manipulation of exogenous factors has not been proved. Discretion is the better part of valour but the results are there. We should be convinced that the soya bean is definitely an ally of our skin!
