Les Andéols, a luxury destination in Provence

It is Alain Ducasse's fifth inn in Europe. The most highly acclaimed chef in the world recently fell in love with the Domaine des Andéols. Joining forces with Olivier and PatriziaMassart, the owners of this wonderful hotel, they have made an inn where the elegance of the décor unites with the elegance of the cuisine.

To win a dream weekend (two days with breakfast) in this exceptional location, write us some lines about what you think are the main attributes of this part of the Luberon. If you wish to be enchanted by the soft light of Provence, you had better write in quickly.

Only three years after its opening, the Domaine des Andéols is one of the chicest and most glamorous addresses in the Luberon. An out of this world hotel and quasi out of time, where celebrities, tired of the wild life in Saint-Tropez, come to relax in complete discretion, far from the paparazzi.

Special mention should be made of the originality of this place. Imagine the hotel, nestled in a valley, two steps away from the village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, a hamlet of some ten dwellings, surrounded by about fifteen hectares of vines, olive-trees and hills covered of oaks-cork. A unique place, which part way between luxury hotel and private villa. A union of the rustic elegance of dry stone-built houses and a collection of contemporary furniture and artifacts, gathered together here by the owners.

Creators of events and special atmospheres

The owners are not banal either.  Olivier Massart, former photographer and globe trotter, and owner of an events agency, had a colossal reputation in the fashion industry from having worked with renowned  couturiers such as John Galliano, Jean-Paul Gaultier or Paco Rabanne. By making his native home a location dedicated to artists, to encourage creativity and exceptional meetings, Olivier Massart had a dream: to welcome with his wife, Patrizia, former top models and connoisseurs of exceptional places, who share a love of contemporary art.

Welcome Alain Ducasse

Quickly a success with high profile customers, the Domaine des Andéols was noted as a must-visit address. By associating with Alain Ducasse, the Massarts own today what is now known as the Auberge d'Alain Ducasse. The fifth  of its kind in Europe (and the fourth in France) after the Bastide de Moustiers, Hostellerie de l'Abbaye de la Celle in Provence, Ostapé in the Basque Country and Andana in Toscana.

A trip to the heart of the flavours of Provence

Domaine des Andéols thus joined the prestigious chain of Châteaux & Hôtels de France presided over by Alain Ducasse. In the kitchen we find Chef Albert Boronat, a former student of Ducasse's at bar & boeuf and at Louis XV de Monaco, then at Spoon des Neiges at Gstaad. Albert Boronat has created a voyage to the heart of the flavours of Provence. In accordance with the beauty and the spirit of the place, each dish speaks of the joy of life and generosity, of perfumes and of warmth. For the meals which are served on a terrace under the olive trees or in a refined dining room, you can select from the menu at 55 euros per person or the day's menu. Risotto with courgettes from the garden, Rouget fish with fine herbs, Caponata with vegetables from the South, Poultry from Cure Bourse stuffed with aromatics, marmalade of tomatoes from the garden- marjolaine style, lavender and cherries Macarons... A true gourmet escape.

Nine chances for an unforgettable moment

Each of the nine houses of the domaine presents a chance to escape, offering a voyage through time. At the origin of these atmospheres and decors, Olivier and Patrizia Massart also give a glimpse at some of the artists of the XXth century: there are tulip chairs by Saarinen in the Maison de Toujours, walls dressed in immaculate ostrich leather in the Maison Blanche, Helmut Newton books and red armchairs from Bertoya in the delicious Maison des Amoureux, Starck mirrors and armchairs by Breuer in the vast Maison Rouge which communicates with the Maison des Terrasses...
The summum of comfort belongs to the Maison du Voyageur and to the Maison des Cascades, with their private swimming pools which flow into the main swimming pool in the middle of the garden... there's no denying this is paradise!
