A holistic spa at the Four Seasons Honk Kong
View of the Four SeasonsThe restaurantA peaceful roomThe Spa
Honk Kong is a city that leaves no one indifferent and this is especially true of its hotel groups. In this beacon and nerve-centre of Asia, every day sees new buildings rise, sharp summits with a futurist look, skyscrapers and ultra-modern buildings, each one taller than the next. An icon of the Asian luxury hotel market, the Four Seasons Hong Kong (opened October 2005) is a symbol of the new generation of luxury hotels. Set among the most famous of the sky-scrapers of the Hong Kong Peninsula, it is thirty minutes from the Lantau, (Chek Lap Kok) International Airport.

An ideal place to land

Ideally situated in one of the IFC (International Financial Centre) towers, the Four Seasons is just a few steps from the Star Ferry, that in 3 minutes will take you to Kowloon.
No less than four interior designers collaborated to create this innovative design and like the city itself, at the Four Seasons Hong Kong, Yin and Yang are absorbed into the western spirit
of the place.

Fusion decor

Contemporary decoration with Asian touches sets the tone. A total look for those who love Chinese design or an urban look for those who prefer city life without forgetting plasma screens and DVD; here there is something for everyone. Guests will not suffer from claustrophobia, the amounts of space and levels of comfort are among the major criteria of the chain. The hotel offers its visitors four restaurants, an aquatic complex worthy of a resort and of course a 2000 m2 spa that, by itself, gives a whole new meaning to the idea of an "urban retreat". Space, luxury, refinement and well being are what define this new oasis.

A monastic spa

Despite its size, a spirit of monasticism hovers over this space that is spread over two levels and where everything is white, the marble paving as well as the furniture. For Samantha Arnold, the manager who welcomes me to this urban retreat with its pared down décor, "the spa's design is a combination of technology and ancestral rites to which we have added hydrotherapeutic materials". A brilliant idea, is the Jacuzzi/pool shaped like a half moon against a mosaic wall, which has aluminium bars on the surface of the water that can be used as loungers for the jets of water to come through. By switching on the button that is by
your hand, thousands of bubbles give a comfortable massage. The filtered light, spread by lamps twisted like bark bring a feeling of well-being to the area.
Another surprisingly designed area, the rest area. Facing an incurving wall, in cut glass, a few beds invite you to take a rest and, the height of luxury for those addicted to the news, a
television screen.
Peace, serenity, the flow of water, background music, the fragrance of vanilla and Ylang Ylang, make up the atmosphere of this urban spa. A real success.

A collection of treatments

I hesitate before the number of treatments. Several collections of treatments are offered; (Vital, Oriental, Radiance, Aqua, Essential, Ultimate and so on), each one is based on natural
products that are all 100% organic and all very attractive.

Mai 2009
My view:

A hotel that is happily modern and at one with its generation;
classic beauty that we are used to now from the Four
Seasons
chain. The flavour is perhaps American, without
perhaps a great deal of imagination but we can always
appreciate the impeccable service, the care for detail and
personalisation. The spa extending over two floors has an
unrivalled asset; the view over the bay.
Two VIP Suites, overlooking the port, have Turkish baths,
tropical showers and of course a small swimming pool.
Time and availability are essential of you want to enjoy this
urban oasis as fully as possible.

Bonne chance !
