The eleventh edition of Design Miami/Basel
From June 14th to 19th, the Florida city will host the eleventh edition of Design Miami/Basel, celebrating original exhibitions, bold colors and formal innovations. Be ready to discover some amazing installations, from floral graphics to upholstery passing by architecture and automobile.
A tribute to Zaha Hadid
The most influential lady within the architecture field, really active during Design Miami/Basel all over the years, passed away on March 2016. To honor her prestigious work, an exhibition is thrown, presenting some pieces of her collection but also collaborations. It will feature work from famous series as "Liquid Glacial Collection", "Marble Collection" but also the "Mew table" made for Sawaya Moroni's firm.
Swarovksi Designers of the Future Award
This year, the new talents who won the Swarovski Designers of the Future Award were asked to design something in a holistic, adaptable and personal way. The results ? Natural light and Crystal by the German-Icelandic duo Studio Brynjar & Veronika, crystal orchestra installation exploring sound by artist Yuri Suzuki and glass, crystal and LED connectors by glass artist Anjali Srinivasan.
Hess Classic, 20 years of Italian "Chef d'Oeuvres"
An exhibition dedicated to Italian car from the 1950's to the 70's. It celebrates the Golden era when studios such as Pininfarina, Gandini and Bizzarrini produced vehicles dubbed ‘sculptures in motion’ by LA’s Petersen Automotive Museum. The perfect occasion to take Instagram pictures of the Lamborghini Miura, iconic Fiat 500 and Ducati motorbikes.
The basel will also made of Design talks by famous art actors as Berlin-based Kuehn Malvezzi, Basel’s own Christ & Gantenbein bureau, editor in chief Tony Chambers and Christian Larson, associate curator of modern and contemporary art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
