Mandarin Oriental Paris and Thierry Marx

Located 251 de la rue Saint-Honoré, Mandarin Oriental Paris is one of the best known 5 starred palaces, thanks to its Art Déco ambiance and its two gastronomic restaurants headed by Thierry Marx and its surprising Sur-Mesure (on order) Sure value!
Mandarin Oriental Paris is ideally located between the Opéra Garnier, the Tuileries Gardens and le Louvre Museum, and can boast 138 luxurious rooms and suites (some being the most spacious in the capital), 7 duplex suites, plus the 350 square meters Royal mandarin Suite. All the interior decoration has followed the aesthetical rules and guides of the Art Déco period to exhale a luxurious and cosy atmosphere. The 900m2 Guerlain Spa’s spherical pearly entrance designed by Sybille de Margerie and its suites devoted to your well-being, add to the magnificence of the hotel.

Thierry Marx’ den

You can’t imagine such a palace without a matching gastronomy. So, here comes Thierry Marx with his two restaurants. His « Sur Mesure par Thierry Marx », with its Japanese style techno-emotional cuisine is considered by some « the place to eat ». The chef proposes a very special culinary experience in a white aerial structure looking like a white nave with its sky dome. The menu is composed of the chef’s most successful and classical dishes (Risotto de soja, for instance) as well as some disturbing new dishes, all around fresh and seasonal products.
For those who don’t want to spend a fortune or whose palates don’t like adventure so much, Le Camelia is their best choice. On the menu: French cuisine, with a touch of Japanese flavors. If you are a believer in detox breakfasts, you have to order the Delight (48€) and its fruit juices full of vitamines and antioxidants.

Our tips:
The hotel is conveniently located right in the Paris shopping area. Ask for high floor rooms to get more light. The suites are very pleasant and comfortable. Everything you might need is there. Choose breakfast in the room. For those in love with the molecular or minimalist cuisine, make reservations at the Sur-Mesure: 165€ for a 6 course menu (small portions, of course), or 195€ for the 9 course menu.
